In Durban a Muslim shot and killed another Muslim. What does the Shariah prescribe for such a murderer? Please read the attached newspaper article on this issue.
Answer
Killing a person, especially a Muslim, intentionally without valid reason is obviously a major sin of the gravest kind. Killing in terms of the Shariah are classified into different kinds.
Intentional killing without valid reason
The killer may be forgiven
Payment of the Diyat (Blood Money) may be demanded
Insistence on execution- - Qisaas
The heirs of the murdered person have the right to choose any one of the abovementioned options.
