A notice pertaining to the lost item has to be incumbently put up in the store. The item has to be kept in trust for at least a year. After a year if the owner has not appeared, it should be given to the poor or you may purchase it for its fair value and give the money to the poor. However, if after giving it to the poor, the owner comes, then you have to pay him the value of the item if he demands it. You will then get the reward for the charity.
