I purchased some video lectures on the subject of medicine. These are copyrighted. Is it permissible for me to sell these videos?
Answer
Firstly, videos are haraam, hence buying, selling and viewing videos are haraam. The prohibition is not on account of copyright. The concept of copyrights/patent rights and the like is not recognized by the Shariah. Any book, etc., may be reproduced and sold regardless of copyright.
