Question
Recently I have been seeing wooden and clear perspex or glass podiums being placed and used in the Masajid. The Moulana will stand in front of it and place his piece of paper and/ or his tablet or phone thereon and give his talk for the Friday. Kindly comment on this as I have seen pictures of them in churches. In days gone by our scholars no matter how old never stood in front of a podium to give the Friday talk.
Answer
It is not permissible to have these Nasaara - type podiums in the Musaajid. It is Tashabbuh bil kuffaar. It is haraam to emulate the practices of the kuffaar. They use such podiums in Christian churches.
