The Imaam of a Musjid married a divorcee in secret. Many months later when the woman became pregnant, she revealed that she is the wife of the Imaam. What is the status of this Imaam?
Answer
The Imaam had grievously erred and sinned by having concealed his nikah. He should be dismissed from the Imaamate. Only if he makes a public Taubah may he be reinstated as Imaam.
