Is it permissible to perform Janaazah Salaat for a homosexual who says that he is a Muslim and that he knows and accepts that homosexuality is haraam?

Question

Is it permissible to perform Janaazah Salaat for a homosexual who says that he is a Muslim and that he knows and accepts that homosexuality is haraam?

Answer

Regardless of the enormity of the fisq and sin, as long as a person is a Muslim, it remains Waajib to perform Janaazah Salaat for him/her. However, the Ulama should not perform it nor participate in the Salaat. While Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) did not perform the Janaazah Salaat of the debtor, he instructed the Sahaabah to perform it.
