For the Shaafi' would the intention for Salaat suffice and must it be read in Arabic in full? Must one say 'adaa-an lillaahi ta'ala'?
Answer
The niyyat to perform Salaat, made in the mind suffices. It is not necessary to verbally recite the niyyat nor to say 'adaa-an …'.
