For the Shaafi‟ would the intention for Salaat suffice and must it be read in Arabic in full? Must one say „adaa-an lillaahi ta‟ala‟ ?
Answer
The niyyat to perform Salaat, made in the mind suffices. It is not necessary to verbally recite the niyyat nor to say ‗adaa-an …'.
