Question
A man was drowned. Although his body was not recovered, Janaazah Salaat was performed for him. Is this valid?
Answer
According to the Shaafi Math-hab, Janaazah Salaat will be valid even if the body is not present. But this is not permissible for Hanafis. Without the presence of the body, the Janaazah Salaat will not be valid.
