How does one get taqwa?

The very basis of Taqwa is strict observance of the Shariah, adoption of the Sunnah, and perpetual Thikr whilst walking, sitting, lying down, etc. When this Waajib prescription is adopted, then Allah Ta'ala bestows the Treasure and Ni'mat of Taqwa. Taqwa is the fruit of Taa-at (Obedience) and Ibaadat. Taa-at refers to the whole of the Shariah – to all branches – to every aspect of the Mu'min's life. Obedience is not confined to external acts of ritual worship.
