Question
We were told by the Ulama that to wear a turban is a great Sunnah of our beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. So if it's Sunnah, can it be given less importance than the topi of a madrasah uniform or of a Khanqah topi?
Answer
The turban is Mustahab. Undoubtedly it is Sunnah. One Sunnah should not be compared to another Sunnah. Whoever wishes to don the turban will gain much thawaab. Whoever does not wear turban should not be castigated. Such castigation is transgression of the prescribed limits of the Shariah.
