Question
A so-called hafiz, wears jeans, T-shirts, shaves his beard and indulges in sins openly. A month or so before Ramadhaan he starts growing a beard. Is it permissible for him to lead the Fardh and Taraaweeh Salaat?
Answer
It is haraam to allow a western-dressed faasiq to act as Imaam. The impermissibility is more emphasized for a beardless faasiq. Regardless of these fussaaq being huffaaz, they should not be permitted to lead the Salaat. Pious laymen should rather lead the Salaat. If no proper Haafiz is available, recite from Surah Feel.
