What is the difference between bay‟t and islaah?
Answer
Bay't is a pledge of allegiance. The mureed promises his Shaikh that he will obey and follow his teachings. Islaah simply means reformation, that is, reformation of the nafs which is twofold: Elimination of the evil qualities and adornment with the attributes of moral excellence.
