Question
Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (Radhiyallahu anhu) narrated: "I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). I have propagated one of them. If I propagate the second, then my throat would be cut (i.e. killed)." What does the second kind of knowledge mean?
Answer
The 'second type of knowledge' mentioned by Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (Radhiyallahu anhu) refers to Ilm-e-Baatin such as the mysteries of Allah Ta'ala revealed to the Auliya, and which is beyond the comprehension of the masses. Such knowledge may seem superficially in conflict with the Zaahiri Shariah, hence it was unwise to publicise it.
