What is the meaning of the following Hadith mentioned in Ibn Kathir, Surah Maryam ayats 71-72? "Then We shall save those who had Taqwa. In the Two Sahihs there is a Hadith reported from Az-Zuhri, from Sa'id from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, "None of the Muslims who has had three children, who all died, will be touched by the Hellfire, except for an oath that must be fulfilled.
Answer
The Hadith highlights the importance of a Qasam (oath). An oath which is violated, not honoured for no valid reason, and then the person dies without having made Taubah. He will be destined for Jahannam. This applies to any kind of oath taken in Allah's Name.
