Is it permissible to eat together with non-Muslims?

Answer

It is not permissible to eat with non-Muslims. It is permissible to feed poor non-Muslims. There is reward for it.

A Brother from Parlock (Durban) narrates the following experience:

"On Wednesday I read my Zohr in Musjid, and as normal, returned home to read my Sunnats. As I entered my house gate came, from a car two blacks with guns rushed in. One gun on my head the other standing at a few meters pointing gun on me.

I took out what was in my pocket - my house keys, my phone, and a small packet money I always carry.

He asked me who's in the house: I said, 'Nobody!'. He was trying to slap me and I scolded him: 'You got everything, so get out!' Just then the house door handle he heard opening, and both ran away. I ran behind them.

A car was waiting outside. One chap tripped, and my money packet with my license and ID fell from his hand on the road. He jumped in the car and the car sped off. I picked up my items. This all happened in a matter of a minute and half at 1.10 pm after Zohr ALHAMDULILLAH! I'm safe and not hurt, ALHAM- DULILLAH! It was only the protection of Allah Ta'ala." (End of the brother's letter)

Warning: When alighting from vehicles about to enter your home, be alert. Look around on all sides for suspicious characters. Do not be caught in ghafalat (obliviousness / carelessness). Stay alert with Thikrullaah. Seek Allah's protection.
