Question
A person is in desperate need of capital for his business. Will this need be a valid dhuroorah (necessity) to justify acquiring a loan on which he has to pay interest?
Answer
The hukm of haraam riba remains the same. The extra he will be paying is haraam interest. The need in this case is not the type of dhuroorah which legalizes prohibitions. Rizq is ordained, and it will reach one. If one pursues it in a haraam way, one will obtain what has been ordained for one, as well as misfortune and punishment with it. If one pursues it in a halaal way, then too one will obtain it as well as the Pleasure of Allah Ta'ala and thawaab.
