If a wild animal is shot with an arrow or a rifle, will the meat be halaal if the anmal is killed with the arrow/bullet?

Question

If a wild animal is shot with an arrow or a rifle, will the meat be halaal if the anmal is killed with the arrow/bullet?

Answer

The wild animal shot with an arrow on which the Tasmiyah was recited at the time of releasing the arrow will be halaal if the hunter reaches it after it has died. However, if he reaches the animal while it is still alive, he has to slaughter it as usual. If he does not slaughter it, the animal will be haraam. The bullet is not like an arrow. An animal shot with a rifle must incumbently be slaughtered. If it is found dead, it will be carrion.
