Is permissible for a female to use an AI-generated male voice for educational purposes instead of her own voice. She is studying at an online university and completes her studies from home. One of her assessments requires her to submit an audio/ video presentation. She has a cochlear implant, and unfortunately, her speech can be difficult to understand through oral communication. Due to this, the university's support services have offered her the use of AI text-to-speech technology to assist with communication. The university has therefore required her to use this alternative AI text-to-speech method for the assessment. It allows her to complete the assessment according to the same academic requirements as other students.
Answer
The male voice, even if artificial, is not permissible. It is best for the girl to abandon the university secular education. There is absolutely no need to pursue university education, but there is an absolute need to observe the laws of the Shariah. We are here in the dunya for a short while. We have to prepare ourselves for the meeting with Allah Ta'ala, and this is achieved via obedience and submission to the Shariah of Allah Ta'ala. Confound the university and its education.
