Question
It is said that camel oil and fat from its hump are excellent for treating muscular pains and the like. The oil is massaged. If the camel is not slaughtered according to the Shariah, will this medicine be halaal?
Answer
If the camel is not slaughtered Islamically, its oil and fat will be haraam. The haraam oil/fat may not be used as medicine. However, in terms of the principle of the Shariah, if a halaal alternative is not available, then a haraam medicine may be used.
