Question
The price I quoted for an item was $200. This was the agreed price. After a couple of months when payment has to be made, the buyer wants to pay me in South African rands at the dollar rate when the transaction was made. Is it my right to demand to be paid in dollars?
Answer
Since the price quoted and agreed on was $200, the buyer has to pay you $200 regardless of the fluctuating rate. Either he transfers $200 to your account, or pay at the current Rand-Dollar rate.
