A new Muslim has not yet memorized all the requisites of Salaat. Can she read the translations of the Surah in her Salaat?
Answer
Reading the translations will invalidate her Salaat. In every post ure s h e should reci t e "Subhaanallaah" a few times – 3 or 5 or 7 times. In addition to the Takbirs, the Tasbeeh should be recited, not the translations. She has to make an earnest attempt to memorize the essentials of Salaat.
