Question
Please comment on chocolates containing lead / cadmium. The article I am sending to you says that chocolates contain lead and this is dangerous for the health. What is the Shariah's ruling?
Answer
We have warned Muslims for years to abstain from all chocolates and sweets. Besides the dangerous ingredient of lead/ cadmium, chocolates and sweets contain a deluge of other poisonous chemicals.
Just reflect on this list of poisons which lace a product called "peanut Chews': Peanuts, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Nonfat Dry Milk, Cocoa Powder, Molasses, Glycerine, Dextrose, Salt, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Vanillin (an artificial flavor), TBHQ (a preservative), Citric Acid. Gluten. All of these commercially processed chocolates, sweets and other foods contain a deluge of chemical substances or poisons. The incurable diseases which have overwhelmed mankind in recent years are no wonder. All of these diseases are the logical consequences of decades of poison consumption.
The argument of the manufacturers that lead / cadmium occurs naturally in cocoa and other foods, is devoid of substance. What occurs naturally in a food is Allah's creation. He knows what is good and harmful for us. The danger of lead/ cadmium is when it is used artificially, when it is added as an ingredient to food. Chocolates and sweets are not permissible.
