Question
Before opening a business, a man made Istikhaarah. However, the business failed. He then cursed and abused Istikhaarah. He used filthy four-letter abuse to describe Istikhaarah. What is his status?
Answer
The man has lost his Imaan with the flagrant statements of kufr. He is no longer a Muslim. If he repents and renews his Imaan, he will return to the fold of Islam. Currently, his wife is in Iddat. The Nikah has lapsed and ended. If the man repents and re-enters the fold of Islam, then if she wishes to be with him, a Nikah has to be performed.
