How long does a person remain a faasiq?

Question

How long does a person remain a faasiq?

Answer

A person remains a faasiq as long as he commits fisq, i.e. flagrant sin. When he repents and abandons his flagrant sinning, then he ceases being a faasiq. If he believes that his fisq is not fisq and that it is permissible, then he becomes a kaafir (rejector).
