Is it permissible to use a telescope or binoculars for sighting the hilaal?
Answer
Whilst optical aid may be enlisted to plot the position of the crescent in order to facilitate sighting, it is necessary to see the hilaal with the naked eye to confirm the sighting for the purpose of commencing the month.
