Question
What is your view regarding Shaykh Mahmud Effendi and his Jama'ah? I have heard that he is the mujaddid of the century. They make propaganda against the Ulama of Deoband, claiming that they are wahabi and weak in beliefs, etc. They say that Imaam Mahdi (alayhis salaam) will be a Hanafi.
Answer
We have never heard of Shaykh Mahmud Effendi. However, he cannever be the mujaddid. A Mujaddid will not say that the Ulama of Deoband are wahabi and weak. No one knows what Math-hab Imaam Mahdi (alayhis salaam) will follow. It appears from this, that this shaykh is a deviate.
