When there is a gap in the front saff in front of you, then step into it with one or two steps with your hands held folded. While stepping to the right-hand side to fill the gap, keep your hands folded. If there is a gap in a saff while you have not yet joined the Salaat, then you may move even across the path of the musallis to reach and fill the gap.
