Question
After the Imaam mounted the mimbar on Jumuah, he called for silence. After the two Khutbahs, whilst on the mimbar, the Imaam makes announcements. Are his actions valid?
Answer
If the musallis were making a noise, then the Imaam was justified in calling for silence from the mimbar. The Imaam is in error for making announcements immediately after the Jumuah Khutbah whilst standing on the mimbar or even after descending from the mimbar. There should be no unnecessary delay or activity or talk between the ending of the Khutbah and the Fardh Salaat.
