A foreign qaari charges $1,000 for reciting qiraa't.

Question

A foreign qaari charges $1,000 for reciting qiraa't. He says that it is his livelihood. What does the Shariah say in this matter?

Answer

All of these mercenary qaaris recite for the boodle. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Recite the Qur'aan. Don't eat with it." In other words, don't use the

Qur'aan for monetary gain. It is for this reason that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that most of the munaafiqeen of the Ummah are its qaaris. It is not permissible to participate in the mockery of the Qur'aan staged by these mercenary thugs.
