A water dispenser is hired to a person with the stipulation that he has to use 50 litres water otherwise a penalty will be added to the monthly rental. Is this permissible?
Answer
It is not permissible to stipulate that the person uses 50 litres water to qualify for the rental amount. The dispenser may be rented to him without the stipulation. The additional charge is haraam. Add an additional charge. The rent must be fixed.
