Question
A deceased woman has donated her kidneys to be used for someone in need. Her kidneys have been removed. However, some members of the family say that it is not permissible whilst others disagree. What is the Shariah's fatwa? What is the rule regarding blood donation?
Answer
Donating human organs and deriving any kind of benefit/use therefrom are haraam. The very elaborate Janaazah rites accorded to the mayyit should be sufficient to understand that neither human body nor anything from it are subjects for donation. In fact, even hairs and nails of the human being have to be compulsorily buried. The kidneys which have been removed should be buried.
Donation of blood is likewise not permissible. The articles we are sending explain these issues in more detail.
