Question
A few brothers are deciding to live off the grid so to speak and away from civilization. They will live off the land and away from people. Some places which they are looking at are in Alaska or a far away African land. Is this acceptable in Islam?
Answer
In fact, it is in conformity with the advice of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). If they are able to find a safe isolated place/land to live, it will be highly recommendable. In this age of fitnah and fasaad to live far away from the evil of the current species of mankind is best if such a safe haven can be found. The present crop of mankind, including Muslims, appear to be a hostile species devoid of humanity.
